A Reflection of God's Heart
The Infinite Love of God- a Love like no other love.
The opportunity to love and be loved is one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us. It's a gift that cannot be bought or sold. It can only be given or received, and that's what makes it so beautiful. Love is actually the ultimate expression of both Heaven and Earth, and just the mention of it stirs great joy in our hearts.
See, love is the reason Christ died for our sins, it’s also the reason He was resurrected, and it’s the reason we are here today. The heart of God has always been filled with love for us and He wants that love to be reflected in our love for others.
The problem is that although the love of God is so beautiful and amazing, the human heart is fragile. We’ve all had love bring immense joy to our lives, but if you've ever been heartbroken or hurt someone, you know that it can also bring devastating pain. It’s not easy for people to reflect God’s love but it is possible.
The double-sided effect of love on our hearts
Only hearts that love can be broken, so choosing to love is a risk, but it's a risk that always proves worth it. It's worth it because the joy that comes from love far outweighs the pain that it could bring.
In no way am I trying to minimize the pain of having your heart broken. Losing a loved one is never easy and there are many ways it can happen. Some of us have had a loved one pass away. Some have had loved ones go astray. And some have even been hurt by loved ones who were too blind to see that what they were doing was hurting others.
None of these things are easy to deal with, it's hard, and it's often unfair, but it's not for nothing. There is purpose in every single thing God allows.
If He allowed you to love and be loved by someone, there was purpose in it. If He allowed that relationship to end in any way, there is purpose in that as well. It's not always easy to see it, especially when your heart feels shattered, but the purpose is always there.
Unconditional love
Jesus loved us enough to die for us before we even loved Him enough to choose Him, in fact, some of the people He died for still chose not to love Him. It's heartbreaking to even think about that, but Jesus still did it because His love was unconditional. And if our hearts are supposed to be a reflection of His, it means our hearts have the ability to offer unconditional love too.
Loving someone unconditionally doesn't mean you have to allow them to hurt you. Neither does it mean you should choose not to heal from a loss. What it means is that you can make a decision to love them from afar.
If your loved one has gone astray or hurt you, you can make a decision to let that person have their own walk with God. If they've gone to be with the Lord, you can make a decision to let God heal your heart while having eternal reign over theirs. This is easier said than done, but it's possible because God is close to the brokenhearted, He is with you and He will help you.
If you'd like a visual reminder of this message, check out this "Unconditional Love" necklace (Coming in November 2022). It's a heart-shaped pendant with rays coming out and a cross in the center of it.
For the widow, it would mean always with me in my heart, but now with God for eternity.
For the rejected or lost it would mean I love you enough to let God work through you, I trust that God will shine upon you for His glory.
For anyone else, it would serve as a reminder that your heart is a reflection of God's and that His love can and will shine through you in every situation.
