In the journey of life, it's inevitable to face moments of discouragement and hopelessness. Whether it's due to setbacks, failures, or simply feeling lost in the vastness of uncertainty, these emotions can weigh heavily on our hearts and minds. However, as Christians, we are blessed with a guiding light that shines even in the darkest of times – the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

When someone we care about is feeling discouraged and hopeless, it's essential to offer them a unique blend of tough love, coaching, and a glimpse of unconditional love – all through the lens of our faith.

• Tough love means speaking truth in love, even when it's difficult. It's about gently challenging the negative thoughts and beliefs that have taken root in their minds. Remind them of their inherent worth as a child of God, created with purpose and intention. Encourage them to confront their fears and doubts with faith, knowing that God is always with them, guiding and supporting them through every trial.
• Coaching involves offering practical guidance and support to help them navigate their way out of despair. Share stories of perseverance and triumph from the Bible, reminding them that even the greatest heroes of faith faced moments of doubt and despair. Encourage them to seek out mentors and support systems within the Christian community who can offer wisdom and encouragement along their journey.
• But perhaps most importantly, show them a glimpse of unconditional love – the kind of love that Christ demonstrated for us on the cross. Assure them that no matter how far they may feel from God, His love knows no bounds and is always available to lift them up and set them on the path to fulfillment and purpose.
• Ultimately, finding hope and purpose in Christ means surrendering our own plans and desires to His will. It means trusting that God has a perfect plan for our lives, even when we can't see it. As the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

So let us lift up the discouraged with a heart full of love and compassion, guiding them towards the light of Christ where hope is found, and purpose is revealed.

Remember, no one is without suffering and challenges. Looking at these moments as a season of refinement can help. We believe in the power of the spoken word. We also believe that we are not meant to "do life" alone. Testimonies are powerful, and when hearing one during a trial, they can bring hope and encouragement. Sharing your testimony can bring purpose out of pain. We invite people to share their testimonies with us, and we have yet to hear of anyone saying that they would change anything. Sometimes, this is a great reminder that God has a big plan and purpose in your life. He is the greatest of all poets and the greatest of all storytellers.
