How Social Media Can Be Used To Share The Gospel

The majority of people who use social media have a love/hate relationship toward it. This is mainly because social media, over the years, has been used for both good and evil.

Some people have seen the bad side of social media in the areas of cyberbullying or comparison. These platforms used the wrong way can cause real damage to our lives. However, there's no denying that they can also be used for good, it can be used to change and impact lives as well, and this is why it should not be ignored or forbidden in Christian homes and communities.

The truth is that evil exists in the real world just as much, if not more than it exists in the "reel" world. So if we know we're called to be the light offline, why do we shy away from being that online? People need us to come alive and do what God has called us to do. This whole world is our mission field and that includes social media. In fact, thanks to social media, we now have the ability to reach many people in many ways.

This is something the generations before us did not have. It's a tool that makes sharing the gospel so much easier and even more widespread.  You can actually reach people where they are, no matter what part of the world that is.

So how do we use social media to share the gospel?

How To Share The Gospel On Social Media

There are hundreds of ways you can share the gospel on social media. Each platform has different features and formats that enable you to share the message of Christ in your own creative way. Therefore, no matter what your style or gifts are, there's a place for you to share.

Here are a few ways to share the gospel on your social media handles:

Post Bible verses

This is one of the easiest ways to get started, especially if you're new to social media or don't know what to say. Bible verses carry the authority of God, they have power in them, nothing else needs to be said. You can post a scripture under a photo you've taken or you can download a Bible verse image from the You-Version app and post that.

"The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" John 1:29

Post photos of yourself

Wondering how posting a photo of yourself shares the gospel? Well, if it's a random photo, it doesn't. But if you're wearing Christian jewelry, a t-shirt with a Bible verse, or any other Christian merch it will make people curious to know more about your faith.

Share others' posts

Whether it's a sermon clip, a Bible verse, a tik-tok, a reel, or a caption with wise words, share it. If it spoke to your heart, chances are it will speak to at least some of the people who follow you.

Create short encouraging videos

Tik-Tok has blown up for a reason. People love watching short videos. So why not add a little encouragement to their feeds. It may be uncomfortable at first but it gives you an opportunity to grow and reach people a lot faster.

Be the light

Be kind, be loving, and be encouraging in all your interactions, people need that, now more than ever. This may not be directly sharing your faith but it shares who your faith has made you as a person, and that can draw people to Christ as well.

We are on Instagram as @bradleykelliedesign and although it's uncomfortable at times, we're keeping on. We’re doing this because we know that the opportunity social media gives us to reach more people for Christ, far outweighs any discomfort we may feel.

So today, as you go about your day, think of ways you can share the gospel on the social media platforms you are on. Know that God sees you, He knows your heart, and He knows who needs what you can offer and He can make it reach them. If you’ll do your part, He’ll be faithful to do His, so why not start today?
