Make Disciples Of All Nations - The Last Commandment, The Greatest Commission
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” - Matthew 28:19
Have you ever come across people that are extremely eager to share the Word of God with you? Did any of these people sound like they came from a completely different nation? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you've met someone that has listened to the last commandment of Jesus. This is someone that has taken the great commission seriously and is committed to making disciples of all nations.
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commanded His followers to go out into the world and make disciples of all nations. For some, this task may be daunting, the world is huge, and travel is not cheap. However, God has never asked anyone to do something and then left them to do it alone. He is always there to provide the resources and the direction we need to accomplish His purpose on the earth.
You and I are called to make disciples of all nations just as much as any other Christian is. So if you've ever wondered why we are called to do this and how it can be done, keep reading.
Why Are We Called To Make Disciples Of All Nations?
There are many reasons we are called to make disciples of all nations but the biggest one can be found in Romans 10:14.
In Romans 10:14, the Apostle Paul says,
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” - Romans10:14 ESV
Each nation in the world is precious to God, He loves us all and He wants us all to know who He is. So the biggest reason Jesus called us to make disciples of every nation is because everybody needs to hear about Him. And in order for all nations to hear about Him, every person who already knows Him needs to go out and tell them.
Other reasons Jesus called us to do this have to do with our hearts. When we decide to make disciples of all nations, we automatically become closer to Him. In order to teach about Him, we have to learn about Him. This involves spending more time in His presence and His Word, thus bringing us closer to Him.
Another thing making disciples of all nations does to our hearts is make it more open to God’s people. When we go into different nations to preach the gospel, we see the pain, the struggles, and the hopes of that nation. This gives us more empathy as well as more drive to bring the love and hope of Jesus into the hearts of those people.
How To Make Disciples Of All Nations
Making disciples of all nations is not an easy task. There are steps that you'll have to take to ensure you're doing it the way God wants.
Pray & Learn
Pray about it. Ask God what He wants you to learn and what He wants you to share. Then learn as much as you can about it. This will help you share the gospel with confidence.
Share What You Know
The next step is to share what you know. Even if you haven't been able to go to another nation as yet, share it with the people around you. Share it on social media. Share it on YouTube or even in a book. Do what you can to share what you know because even the littlest caption you type can get someone to seek God for themselves.
Go Into All The World
Now that you've learned, shared, and experienced the love of Jesus, it's time to go. It's time to go into another nation and make disciples of the people in it. Physically go, write books in their language, make YouTube videos with a voiceover in their language. Do what you can to tell them what you know. Talk about who God is and what He has done, then watch them go out and do the same.
Remember, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. When He was here, He told everybody about the kingdom of heaven. Now that He lives in our hearts, it's our job.
